R. Lee Townsend, Bassist

A mainstay of the Maryland music scene, R. Lee Townsend is a musician, producer, and the founder of Adobo Records. His storied career in rock music is anchored by his tenure as the bassist for The Ravyns, a band that earned a place in cinematic history when their hit single, “Raised on the Radio,” was featured on the soundtrack of the 1982 Universal Pictures classic, Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Townsend remains an active figure in the regional soundscape through high-profile performances and production work. He continues to perform in annual reunion events with the long-standing band Never Never, appearing in both the Never Never v1.0 and v2.0 lineups. Additionally, he provides the low-end foundation as the bassist for the acclaimed Stevie Nicks tribute, Leather & Lace: The Stevie Nicks Experience.

R. Lee is also available for hire for live fill-in performances and session work. Contact rleetownsend@gmail.com.
