Covid-21

Like many, I’ve had several Covid scares since February of 2020, together with some major life changes, including loss of parents/family, personal quarantine, career layoff and subsequent retirement.  I was able to dodge the bullet until September of 2021, uninfected and unvaxxed.  And then it caught up with me on September 20th.

While early in the pandemic, at first, I pretty much sequestered myself from life, seldom venturing out of my tiny sphere.  After my layoff on April 1 2020, and subsequent forced retirement in June, I was able to sustain myself from pandemic unemployment and my social security benefits.  Feeling guilty about collecting unemployment I began providing convenience-based food delivery services.  I was able to get out as my schedule would allow, occasionally meet new folks, which I enjoy, and have the feeling that I was earning an honest wage.  The downside was the constant vigilance of masking, constant hand-washing and sanitizing, and the social distancing.  All in all, things worked out very well.  I wasn’t setting the world on fire, but I was working as much as I needed.

As to the vaxx question, I opted to not be vaccinated, and not for any political reasoning, just in the name of simple science.  I wanted to see more data on the safety of being vaccinated for someone with my particular health profile, which is very atypical.  Once sufficient data was amassed over time would bring me into the realm of consideration.
